My paternal great grandfather was William Henry Daniels, b abt 1854 in Poynton England, son of Isaac Daniels and Elizabeth Fletcher. He disappeared from the record in about 1885 and presumably died. He married Magdalena Boul, daughter of Chrisostomous Boul and Mary Ann Dahm, 15 Apr 1879 in French Village, County of St. Clair, Illinois. She also disappears from the record in 1885 and presumably died, possibly in childbirth. They had at least two known children: Mary Amalia (Aunt Mary), and Emma Katherine (Grandma P or Aunt Kitty). A record of burial of a child named Anna of William and Magdalena Daniels was found in the Register of St. Peter’s Cathedral. Anna died 21 July 1885 and was buried the next day.
I’ve been wondering who these two were. Still don’t know much. Grandma Pottinger didn’t speak much about her parents, almost nothing at all about her mother that I recall, and very little about her father. She had a little book of Common Prayer that was his and a source of wonder to a litte pre-teen boy growing up in her house. The prayer book has since disappeared. What I do know or find out will be posted below. Enjoy.

The nine living children mentioned here are all in the database. Josephine, Mary, and Magdalena all died previous to 1892. That leaves two unidentified children. The ‘Mr and Mrs Forst’ are Catherine BOUL and Aloysius FORST. His first wife was Josephine BOUL, Catherine’s older sister who died in 1872.
