This is the trunk of the POTTINGER family tree. Here you will find posts relating to families allied to my POTTINGER line like BARRY etc. I am starting my tree with my four grandparents. This one starts out with Hardy Pottinger I.
Hardy Pottinger I
Put stories relating to Hardy #1 here.
It has been said that Hardy was named for the doctor who delivered him. I can find no evidence in the census records that there was a doctor by that name in the county where he was born or in surrounding counties. There was a Hardy family but he was a farmer, not a doctor. It was surprising though to see that there were a number of young boys in the county about grandpa’s age who were also named Hardy.
Hardy was a lawman, a hunter, crack shot with a shotgun, owned a pool hall, and was an ‘adult beverage’ distributor in Charleston Missouri.
